Visual Art for the Classroom
Karla-Louise underwent many visual art for the Classroom workshops during her time in NCAD, allowing her to broaden her technical abilities and skills in order to teach the techniques and skills to a high level. Working alongside specialists in areas such as ceramics, digital media, graphic design, 3D constuctions and mixed media practices.
Graphic Design
Karla-Louise created a graphic design poster focused on biodiversity, community, and the environmental impact of urban development. Her project highlighted how construction disrupts local habitats, leading to the concept of "Ecocide." Through research and experimentation with altered typography and block-type lettering, she aimed to raise awareness of environmental protection.
The project not only showcased her growth as a designer but also helped her refine her skills in teaching students to engage with both the technical and conceptual aspects of graphic design.

Ceramics
This project delves into the structural construction of clay vessels, drawing inspiration from architectural principles. In this experimental exploration, Karla-Louise develops a range of techniques to add and subtract texture, experimenting with diverse methods to enhance the surface and form of the vessels. Fundamental building practices, such as coiling, are utilised to ensure the structural integrity of the piece.
A crucial element of the project was the design process, which involved extensive research and an iterative approach to refining her ability to teach the drawing of three-dimensional structures.
